On September 13th we had a tea ceremony demonstrated by our co-curricular tea ceremony class. Students dressed up in Yukata (simple kimono) and Tabi (traditional socks), and male students also wore Hakama (pants that you can wear over kimono). Beginners students who joined tea ceremony class this term did Bon-temae (basic/simple tea making), and those who have been training since previous term welcomed guests by making tea with ice water which is a treat in summer season. Students who have been training for longer period have demonstrated Fu-ro temae (making tea with small ingle) , Koi-cha (thick-textured tea that you share with other guests) and Chabako-temae (Making tea with seasonal appreciation) too. In total about 70 students and teachers visited the tea ceremony event as guests on that day, and everyone enjoyed Japanese sweets that have shapes of Autumn maple leaves and tasty green tea in the ceremony sitting in Japanese style for 20 to 40 minutes. |
