During the entrance ceremony that we had yesterday for new students, the representative of current students; Mr. OH SEJUNG gave a really good speech that is based on his own experience, so we would like to share the main part of the speech here.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Today I would like to tell you that it is not only Japanese language that you could learn in Japanese language school based on my own experience here.
Studying abroad will require you to be away from your comfort zone and be responsible for all your actions. I came to Japan with a goal to enter a Japanese university. I made my decision to come to Japan much later than others so at first I just focused in study by putting aside other things like interaction with my fellow colleagues. But after the first 3 months I got so exhausted and fell into a slump.
It was that kind of time when I first participated in a speech contest in Shinjuku. Looking back, that was the turning point in my study abroad. When I realized that there are so many people around me like my classmates and instructors who supported me for my challenge, I was moved about the fact that there are many people who care about me.
The experience really helped me to face and enjoy my school life a lot more positively. It also gave me an understanding that KCP is a global community, in another word, a small piece of nowadays world. I feel that I grew up as an individual, with more confidence in myself, wider vision and flexible ideas about things, which makes me feel so glad that I chose to come to Japan.
Please have a proactive approach in your study abroad experience while enjoying your student life with people around you, I am sure you could feel the same growth I felt in myself and could look back in the future and say that you made a right choice going to Japan.
