Last day we had a evacuation drill at school that all students participated. This was the first time for this term's new students to experience an evacuation drill to prepare for emergency situations, but they immediately hid under their desks when they heard the announcement in class, and we were very impressed for their smooth response. It was a pity that many of them forgot to completely cover their heads, because in case of an earthquake we must first protect our heads even if that means exposing feet or hips. After hiding under desks for a short time we simulated the evacuation by walking to the nearest public evacuation point, Shinjuku Gyoen Park. On our way we also checked what buildings would be dangerous for us to walk by for having much glass windows and coverings outside because knowing the risks of falling objects including shattered glass in advance is also very important. |
